School's Back!!

Finally that time of year after a fun filled summer! The kids are probably excited, but the moms...they are throwing a party. Except don’t let the lunch packing frustration ruin it for you! Here are some healthy lunch and snack ideas to help your kids stay healthy an energized in school.

Lunch: >>Whole wheat pita halves filled with peanut butter and honey

>>Hummus and whole grain crackers or whole wheat mini pitas

>>Tuna sandwiches with whole wheat bread bread, tuna, apple pieces, dried cranberries, and mayo/yogurt mixture

>>Bean salad includes black beans, shredded cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado pieces (toss in some lemon to keep from browning), and a drizzles of oil olive

>>Egg salad includes boiled eggs, poled baby potatoes, avocado pieces, and cherry tomatoes with oil and vinegar

>>Taquitos with whole wheat tortillas, corn, beans, cheese and dollop of sour cream on the side

>>Quesadillas with whole wheat tortillas, cheese, avocado, and sour cream on the side

>>Pasta salad includes boiled pasta with bell peppers, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and celery and a lemon-oil vinaigrette

>>Whole wheat mini bagel with cream cheese

Mix it up lunch add ins: Banana Strawberries Blueberries Mandarins Apples slice (slice, put in snack bag with a splash of apple juice and lemon to stay fresh) Cucumbers Mini peppers Carrots Zucchini Broccoli

Snacks: Cheese stick Popcorn
